El Ensanche is possible the best place to walk through for the modern part of town, inhabited by its mainly bourgeoisie officials, may give you a clearer impression of Valencia today, for those on their Valencia Villas holidays.
Or there is always a wonder through the Barrio del Carmen a district that manages to represent Valencia's as it used to be, numerous shops, cafés and the theatre's. A place where you could see the ancient walls of Valencia if it wasn't for the tram lines that have taken their place.
Valencia a city of clichés, the land of flowers a name which comes from an old folk song, there are many gardens in the city you can easily see why it got the name.
The River Turia at one time ran through its centre, but not any more years of flooding every winter had taken its toll but when disaster struck in 1957 that was it, after a disastrous flood that drowned the city there were too many deaths this time and the river was diverted, the fertile river bed was turned into the magnificent gardens that can still be seen although the city of Arts and Sciences has taken most of it over.
There are many more interesting buildings inside the city there are buildings such as the Palace of Almirantes de Aragón, and the church of San Juan.
The three old bridges, that span what was the river Turio, Puente del Real, Puente de la Trinidad and Puente de Serranos. Are just as attractive spots and make for a wonderful walk.
The Puente de Serranos along with the Torres de Serranos, have 15th century towers which were part of the original walls, which hae for a long time been torn down, in their place are the tram lines which are used today.
The mainly Gothic Cathedral, though some parts were added to later. With three portals a Romanesque, a Gothic and a baroque. The main Capilla Mayor chapel, is in a baroque style, and the two lateral chapels are neoclassic.
The Cathedral also has its own museum with some of the best works by Goya and a host o other artists. The octagonal bell tower, which is fondly known as Miguelete, is one of the better known landmarks. Where fantastic views can be seen from the top.
The Plaza de Manises you can find the Palacio de la Generalidad, a palace from the 15th century that is used for local government. If your interest lies in art it might be good to have your Valencia Villas here.
